30 Day Writing Challenge (Day 21)

Day 21: Three lessons you want your children to learn from you.

emotions are not a sign of weakness,
but a source of strength.
they warn you when you are settling
for less than your worth.

sometimes we are too close
to see the truth.
our eyes play tricks on us,
and make shapes out of shadows.
it’s okay to ask for help,
to trust the outside voice
to guide you back to safety.

if you’re afraid,
it means you have something
worth losing.
fight for it, fight for it, fight for it
with everything you have.

I want to help children find autonomy, teenagers find themselves, and adults find compassion through the written word. I hold a B.A. in Creative writing and a dream of seeing my name on a book cover one day.
